A wire of resistance 20 ohms is bent to form a closed square. What is the resistance across a diagonal of the square? A wire of resistance 10 ohms is bent to form of a closed circle. What is the effective resistance b/w the two points at the ends of anydiameterof the circle.?

Resistance of each half side will be 20/4 = 5 ohm

Resistance across the diagonal, the wire will be in parallel connection with resistance, 5×2 = 10 ohm

(1/R) = (1/10) +(1/10)
         =2/10
⇒R= 10/2
⇒R = 5 ohm

b)Now, Resistance of each half circle will be 5 ohm

Resistance between two diametrically opposite end, the wire will be in parallel connection.

(1/R) = (1/5) +(1/5)
         =2/5
⇒R = 5/2
⇒R = 2.5 ohm
