Explanation:

Total Resistance of wire = 8 ohm

If this wire convert into a square than each side contain resistance = 8 / 4 = 2 ohm

Now , we want to calculate resistance between two consecutive vertices of square. ( Between P and Q )

Resistance through ADQ :

R1 and R2 are in series so their total resistance = R1 + R2 = 2 + 2 = 4 ohm

Similarly,

Resistance through ABC :

R3 and R4 are in series so their total resistance = R3 + R4 = 2 + 2 = 4 ohm

Now, two 4ohm resistance are in parallel, So total resistance between P and Q,

1/R = 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2

=> R = 2 ohm

So, resistance between two consecutive vertices of square is 2 ohm.
