A wire of resistance 8R is bent in the form of a circle. What is the effectiveresistance between the ends of a diameter AB?

R=2 ohm

Explanation:

Assume the Circle to be stretched out in the form of a straight line.

Cut it into two equal halves.So each part will have a resistance of 8/2=4 ohm

Now , when we join it in the form of a circle and see its diameter, the effective resistance is two parallel resistors of 4ohm

Net Resistance, 1/R = 1/4+1/4

R=2 ohm
