★ Given:

A wire bent to form a square encloses an area of 484 cm².

★ To Find:

The area when the same wire is bent to form a circle.

★ Solution:

Area of the square = 484 cm²

Side = √484

Side = 22 cm

Perimeter = 4a

= 4 x 22

= 88 cm

The perimeter of the circle will be the same as that of the square as the same wire is used.

Formula to find circumference = 2πr

We know that:

2πr = 88 cm

\sf{2\times\dfrac{22}{7}\times\:r=88\:cm}

\sf{r=88\times\dfrac{7}{44}}

\sf{r=2\times7}

r = 14 cm

Area of the circle = πr²

\sf{=\dfrac{22}{7}\times14\times14}

= 616 cm²

Hence the area of the circle formed is 616 cm².

★ Formulae Used:

→ Perimeter of a square = 4a

→ Area of a square = a²

→ Perimeter of a circle = 2πr

→ Area of a circle = πr²
