1. Advantages and Disadvantages of Water Transport are as follows: Advantages: 1. Less Maintenance Cost: Maintenance cost in rail and road transport is quite high but maintenance cost of water transport is quite less. 2. Cheap: The transport channel is quite cheap as compared rail and road Transport. 3. Useful for Bulky Goods.

2. Roadways are considered more important than any other means of transportation because It is a cheap transport for long distances and for bulky products. It promotes national integration and integration within states.

3. (i) Railways are a cheaper means of transport than airways.

(ii) Apart from big cities, even small towns are connected by railways.

4. Inland waterways are declining in importance because rivers in India do not have enough flow of water during the summer. Apart from it, peninsular rivers are not navigable throughout the year. Moreover, it is a slow means of transport.

5.   There are many advantages of road transport in comparison to other means of transport. The investment required in road transport is very less compared to other modes of transport such as railways and air transport. The cost of construction, operating cost and maintaining roads is cheaper than that of the railways.
