y = 1000/x. eq.2

1000/(x-50) = y+10
1000 = (x-50)(y+10)
1000 = xy + 10x -50y - 500
1000 = 1000 + 10x - 50y - 500
0 = 10x - 50y - 500
500 = 10x - 50y
50 = x - 5 y
50 = x - 5(1000/x)
50 = x - 5000/x
50 = (x^2 - 5000) / x
50x = x^2 - 5000
x^2 - 50x - 5000 = 0
x^2 - 100x + 50x - 5000 = 0
x(x-100) + 50(x-100) = 0
(x+50)(x-100) = 0
x = -50
x = 100
Money cannot be negative so x = 100
