Answer:

Mother's present age is 25 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of woman be 'x' years and of her son be 'y' years.

Now, according to the Question,

Woman's ages = 5 × Son's age

x = 5 × y

x = 5y ---- 1

Again, after 5 years,

Their ages will be,

Woman's age = (x + 5)

Son's age = (y + 5)

Then, according to the Question,

Woman's age after 5 years = 3 × Son's age after 5 years

(x + 5) = 3 × (y + 5)

x + 5 = 3(y + 5)

x + 5 = 3y + 15

x - 3y = 15 - 5

x - 3y = 10 ----- 2

Substituting eq.1 in eq.2, we get,

x - 3y = 10

(5y) - 3y = 10

5y - 3y = 10

2y = 10

y = 10/2

y = 5 years

Putting y = 5 in eq.1,

x = 5y

x = 5(5)

x = 25 years

Hence,

Mother's present age is 25 years.

Hope it helped and believing you understood it....All the best
