A woman with a basket of eggs finds that if she removes the eggs from the basket 5 or 11 at a time, there is always 1 egg left. However, if she removes the eggs 7 at a time, there are no eggs left. If the basket holds up to 100 eggs, how many eggs does she have?

Hey Mate,

We know that the no. of eggs is a multiple of 7

The units digit is 1 or 6, because of the 5

That leaves 21, 56, 91

the 3 tell us it has to be 91 eggs

Hope it helps

Answer:

She has 56 eggs .

Explanation : If she removes eggs from the basket 5 at a time then there is 1 egg left .As, (56 ÷ 5 ) the quotient is 11 and the remainder is 1,that means 1 egg is left.

That process goes the same when she removes 11 eggs at a time .

But in case of, when she removes 7 eggs at a time then the remainder is 0 ,that means there are no eggs left .

Hope it is helpful to you.
