Answer:

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala police in a facebook post clarified that men, who travel in reserved seats for women must vacate the seat. The police made the clarification after fake news on reserved seats in bus shared on social media.

Explanation:

Men who travel in long distance bus can travel in reserved seats for women and women should not ask any man to vacate the seat," reads the news.

The fake news that spread on social media created confusion among the public. But Kerala police asserted that the news is completely fake and against Motor Vehicle Department Act.

The police stated that as per MVD act, male passengers can travel in reserved seats for women but they should vacate the seat when a woman passenger boards the bus and she has no seat to occupy.

Every bus including KSRTC reserved 25 percent seats for women. Men can occupy the reserved seats for women only in the absence of women passengers.

KSRTC also ordered that the conductor should ask the male passengers to vacate the seats if any women passengers demand the reserved seats occupied by men.

Meanwhile, the Motor Vehicle Department informed that those who violate the law related to reserved seat will face action including penalty. Those who violate the law should pay a fine of Rs 100. If any passenger refuses to vacate the seat after slapping the fine, the conductor can file a complaint against him for interrupting his duty. Police will file a criminal case against such passengers.
