A piece of rope is 7m 20cm long. It is cut into 2 pieces. One piece is shorter than the other by 1m 80cm. Find the length of the shorter piece.

\bf\underline{Given:}

  • A wood piece 100 cm long
  • Cut into 2 pieces

\bf\underline{Solution:}

Let shorter piece be x.

Longer piece =  2x + 10cm

x + 2x + 10 m = 100 cm

=> 3x + 10 m = 100

=> 3x = 100-10

=> 3x = 90

=> x = \frac{90}{3}

=> x = 30 cm

\\

 x = 30 cm Ans.

 2x + 10 cm= 2×30 + 10

=> 60 + 10 m

=> 70 cm Ans.
