Q.A wooden article was made by scooping out a hemisphere from each end of a solid cylinder, if the height of the the cylinder 10cm and radius 3.5 cm , find the total surface area

\huge\bf\underline{\underline{Solution}}

Height of cylinder= 10cm

Height of cylinder= 10cmradius of base= 3.5cm

Total surface area of the article =

Curved surface area of the cylinder +2 surface area of a hemisphere

 = 2\pi\: rh \:  + 2(2\pi \:  {r}^{2} ) \\ 2\pi \: r \: (h + 2r) \\ 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 3.5(10 + 2 \times 3.5) \\  = 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 3.5(10 + 7) \\  = 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}   \times \frac{35}{10} (17) \\  = 2 \times  \frac{\cancel22}{\cancel7}   \times \frac{ \cancel35}{\cancel10} (17)  \\ 2 \times 11(17) = 374 {cm}^{2}

∴374cm² is the total surface area of article
