Given info : A wooden block of mass 1 kg is attached to the hook of a spring balance. The spring balance is then raised with an acceleration of 9.8 m/s².

To find : The apparent weight of the body is...

solution : it has given that, spring balance is raised with an acceleration of 9.8 m/s².

it means, wooden block is in non - inertial frame of reference. so we have to make it inertial frame of reference to apply Newtonian equation.

applying the same magnitude of pseudo force in just opposite direction of block.

so, net force acting on block = weight of block + pseudo force

= 1kg × 9.8 m/s² + 1 kg × 9.8 m/s²

= 2 × 9.8 kg m/s²

we know, 9.8 kg m/s² = 1 kg-wt

= 2 kg-wt

Therefore apparent weight of the body is 2 kg-wt
