Answer:

Volume of the wood = 960 cubic cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A wooden box measures 20 cm by 12 cm by 10 cm. Thickness of wood is 1 cm.

To find : Volume of wood to make the box (in cube cm) is?

Solution :

The external dimension of the box is

Length = 20 cm , Breadth = 12 cm and height = 10 cm

The External volume of the box is V=l\times b\times h

V=20\times 12\times 10

V=2400 cm^3

Thickness of the wood is 1 cm

Internal Length = 20-2=18 cm ,

Internal Breadth = 12-2=10 cm

Internal Height = 10-2= 8 cm

The Internal volume of the box is V_I=l\times b\times h

V_I=18\times 10\times 8

V_I=1440 cm^3

Volume of the wood = Volume - Internal volume

                                  = 2400 - 1440

Volume of the wood = 960 cubic cm.
