it is solid because the intermolecular spaces are less and interparticle attraction is more....it will be a solid at high temperatures and cold temperatures too...at high temperatures..it burns to form ashes and it is a solid..cold temperature does not effect wood

because the room temperature mean moderate temperature and the molecules of wooden chair is very closely packed and they have more intermolecular force of attraction between their particles
