Karim alone will complete it in =13\dfrac{1}{3} days.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

(Ram + Karim)'s 1 day's work =\dfrac{1}{5} and

Ram's 1 day's work =\dfrac{1}{8}

To find, the number of days Karim alone will take for that work = ?

∴ Karim's 1 day's work = (Ram + Karim)'s 1 day's work - Ram's 1 day's work

=\dfrac{1}{5}-\dfrac{1}{8}

=\dfrac{8-5}{40}

=\dfrac{3}{40}

The number of days Karim alone will take for that work =\dfrac{40}{3} =\dfrac{39+1}{3}

=13\dfrac{1}{3} days

Hence, Karim alone will complete it in =13\dfrac{1}{3} days.
