Given :

Work done = 16000J

Mass of the object = 60 kg

Gravitational field = 9.8 m/s²

To find :

The height through which it is lifted.

Solution :

Potential energy is energy due to position.

  • Potential energy is scalar quantity having magnitude.
  • Sl unit of P.E is Joules.
  • CGS unit of P.E is erg.

Potential energy of an object is given by

P.E = mgh

where,

  • P.E denotes potential energy.
  • m denotes mass.
  • g denotes gravitational field.
  • h denotes height.

Substituting all the given values in the formula,

➠ P.E = mgh

➠ 16000 = (60)(9.8)(h)

➠ 16000 = 588h

➠ h = 16000/588

➠ h = 27.21m ⠀

thus, the height through which it is lifted is 27.21 m.
