Let he drive by own car =x km

then by taxi = 80-x

now ATQ

total fair. = 500

x×5 +(80-x)15 =500

5x+1200-15x =500

-10x. =500-1200

-10x.= -700

x. = -700/-10

x=. 70

I.e. by car = 70 km
by taxi. =10 km

Answer: He travel 10 km by taxi.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that the worker traveled 80 km in one week.

Let the distance covered by taxi be x

Let the distance covered by his own car be 80-x

Cost of travelling by taxi = Rs. 15

Cost of travelling by his own car = Rs. 5

Total cost he claimed = Rs.500

According to question,

15x+(80-x)\times 5=500\\\\15x+400-5x=500\\\\10x=500-400\\\\10x=100\\\\x=\frac{100}{10}\\\\x=10\ km

Hence, He travel 10 km by taxi.
