Given :

A wristwatch is sold at a loss of 18% . Had it been sold for Rs. 69 more ,

The gain would have been 5%

To find:-

Find the cp of the retailer sellers 150 watches per day .

Find his loss per day.

Solution :-

let the cp ( cost price ) of a watch = x

loss on each watch = 18%

selling price ( sp) of the wristwatch = x(100-18)/100

82x/100 --------------- ( 1 )

Gain would have been 5%

when sp would be have been = x(100+5)/100

=> 105x/100 ----------------- (2)

Now subtract equation (1) from (2)

❁ 105x/100 - 82x/100 = 69

❁ 23x/100 = 300 Rs

Loss = 18% × 300 = 0.18 × 300

=> Loss = 54 Rs

Selling price = 300 - 54 = 246

✪ Since , the loss on one wristwatch = 54 Rs

✪ loss on 150 watch = 54×150 = 8,100 Rs

Answer : hence, the cost price is Rs. 300 and loss per day would be Rs. 8,100 ✔︎✔︎✔︎

☯GIVEN

  • A wristwatch is sold at a loss of 18%.
  • been sold for 69 more
  • the gain would have been 5%.

☯NEED TO FIND

  • CP if the retailer selles 150 watches per day.
  • Find his loss per day.

☯SOLUTION

Let the cost price of a wristwatch = X

Loss on each watch = 18%

Selling price of the wristwatch=

 \frac{x(100 - 18)}{100} \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \frac{82x}{100}

__________________(1)

Gain would have been = 5%

When selling price would have been=

 \frac{x(100 + 5)}{100}  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: =  \frac{105x}{100}

___________________(2)

Now subtract equation (1) from equation (2)

 \frac{105x }{100}  -  \frac{82x}{100}  = 69 \\  \\ </p><p> \frac{23x}{100} = 69 \\  \\  </p><p>x=  \frac{69  \times  100 }{23}  \\ x = 300 \: Rs.

Loss = 18% x 300

= 0.18 x 300

=54 Rs.

Selling price = 300 - 54 = 246

Since loss on one wrist watch = 54 Rs.

Loss on 150 watch = 54 x 150 = 8,100 Rs.

  • Cost price is 300
  • Loss per day would be 8,100.
