The electronic configuration of Mn is [Ar] 3d⁵ 4s² and that of Fe is [Ar] 3d⁶ 4s².

  • Iron has an atomic number of 26 and there has 2, 8, 14, 2 electrons in each of its orbit. It is placed in fourth period and 8th group in the periodic table.
  • Manganese has an atomic number of 25 and is placed next to iron in periodic table and is present in group 7 of periodic table. It is not found in free state in nature but is present in combined state.
