a) 2H represents two molecules of hydrogen where as H2 represents two atoms of hydrogen

b)H2O represents that the compound contains two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen whereas 3 H2O represents that the compound has 6 atoms of hydrogen and three atoms of oxygen
