Acceleration

The rate of change of velocity per unit time is known as Acceleration

Acceleration of an object is given by:

 \huge{ \boxed{ \boxed{ \rm{a =  \frac{v - u}{t} }}}}

Here,

  • a 》 Acceleration

  • v 》 Final Velocity

  • u 》 Initial Velocity

  • t 》 Time taken

From the Question,

  • Final Velocity,v = 21 m/s

  • Initial Velocity,u = 0 m/s

  • Time,t = 1 min = 60 sec

Putting the values,we get:

 \sf{a =  \frac{21 - 0}{60} } \\  \\  \rightarrow \:  \sf{a =  \frac{21}{60} } \\  \\  \huge{ \rightarrow \:  \sf{a = 0.35 \: ms {}^{ 2} }}

\bold{Firstly,\:What\:is\:acceleration?}

=> Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity. Its S.I unit is m/s².

\bold{Formula-}

a = \dfrac{v-u}{t}

Where, a is acceleration

v is final velocity

u is initial velocity

t is time taken.

\underline\bold\blue{Question-}

A train starting from Railway Station attains a speed of 21 m/s in one minute. Find its acceleration.

\underline\bold\blue{Solution-}

Given :

  • initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s { starts from rest }

  • final velocity (v) = 21 m/s

  • time taken (t) = 1 min = 60 s

To find :

  • its acceleration

Solution :

We know that,

a = \dfrac{v-u}{t}

put the given values :

=> a = \dfrac{21-0}{60}

=> a = \dfrac{21}{60}

=> a = 0.35 m/s² ( required answer )
