(i)In the presence of oxygen- When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the presence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as aerobic respiration. Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which further breaks down in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water.

(ii)Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which further breaks down in the absence of oxygen to give lactic acid and ethyl alcohol. This process is called fermentation.

(iii)(a)They get energy through anaerobic respiration. In the absence of oxygen, glucose breaks down into alcoholand carbon dioxide, as given below: ... The cramps occur when muscle cells respire anaerobically. The partial breakdown of glucose produces lactic acid.

(b)the farmers loosen the soil to make the presence of the air inside the soil by which the crop would get nutrients from from the air.
