Given ,

The two sets in set builder form are

  • A = {x : x is a letter in word ''MATHEMATICS"}
  • B = {y : y is a letter in the word "STATISTICS"}

The given sets can be written in roaster form as

A = {M , A , T , H , E , I , C , S}

B = {S , T , A , I , C}

Now ,

We have to find A - B and A  \cap B

Thus ,

A - B = {M , H , E}

and

A  \cap B = {S , T , A , I , C}

A intersection B = {S,A,T,I,C}

A- B= {M,H,E}

Given

  • A={x:x is a letter in word ''Mathematics"}
  • B={y:y is a letter in the word "Statistics"}

To find

  • A-B and
  • A intersection B

solution

we are provided with a two sets A and B given in a set builder form and are asked to find the basic algebraic operations of the set as provided in the question.

writing the provided set in the normal form,

A = {M,A,T,H,E,IC,S}

B = {S,T,A,I,C}

Now, let us find answer to the operations as given in the question.

A-B ( which include elements in set A and those elements should not be present in Set B)

A- B= {M,H,E}

now A intersection B is given as ( we know that the operation intersection will include only the elements which are found in both sets)

Therefore, A intersection B = {S,A,T,I,C}
