Answer:

Let the present age of the son be x years

present age of man = x² years

One year ago sons age,

sons age = ( x-1) years

Father's age=( x²-1) years

It is given that eight hence, the age of father will be three times the age of son

2x²+ 8=3(x+8)+4

2x² + 8= 3x+24+4

2x²- 3x-20=0

2x²+8x+5x-20=0

2x²(x-4)+5(x-4)=0

(x-4) (2x+5)=0

x=4,-5/2

But the age cannot be in negative so the age is x=4

present age of son=4 years

present age of father=2(4)² years= 32 years.
