Subject: The dilemma of %nline classes

Dear Sir

The ongoing pandemic has forced education to rely on %nline tools. This has caused many issues for both students and teachers, including an unavoidable increase in screen time, health problems, lack of in-person communication, greater issues of understanding and too many distractions. Yet, each school has had to resort to the %nline mode.

There are some benefits too. The academic year has been saved from being wasted, and students and teachers can attend classes from the comfort of their homes. Commute time has been negated completely and everything has become digitalised, from lessons and assignments to exams.

However, we need to ensure that %nline classes do not become a reason for stress. This is largely in the hands of school managements across the world. Also, we need to take a moment and appreciate the effort everyone is putting in- teachers, students and even parents. In such grim times, a little bit of appreciation can bring a lot of cheer.

Yours sincerely

Fathima Cursetji
