Nineteen years ago, the over 60-day Kargil war came to an end this day as India took command of the outposts taken over by Pakistani intruders.
The completion of Operation Vijay on July 26, 1999, led to the end of the 60-day-long Kargil war and marks the day as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Today, on the 19th Kargil Vijay Diwas, commoners, politicians, celebrities are paying their tributes to the martyrs who gave up their lives for the safety of our nation.
Additional Directorate General of Public Information (Indian Army) shared a photo marking Kargil Vijay Diwas and honouring the martyrs. The post also emphasised on how Operation Vijay was executed.
President Ram Nath Kovind also remembered the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces.
From Minister of Transport to Chief Minister of Goa, politicians paid their tributes to the people who were a part of the Kargil war.
