(a) You have completed the mathematics project in 20 days. How many days will your friend take to complete the same work if he is 20% less efficient than you?
(b) Both of you can together finish the maths project in 16 days. After working together for 8 days, your friend left. The remaining part of the project was finished by you in 10 days. In how many days you alone can finish the project?

Answer:

A can complete the work in 30 days, thus in one day A can do = 1/30th part of work

B can do this work in 20 days, thus in one day B can do =1/20th part of work

Both A and B work together then they can do part of work

1/30 + 1/20

(2 + 3)/60

= 5/60 part of work

Or 1/12 part of work

If they work together then they can complete the work early. Let they take x days to complete the entire work

1/12 × x days = 1

x/12 = 1

Cross multiplication

x = 1 × 12

x = 12 days

It suggest, that if both A and B work together then they can complete the entire work in 12 days.

Answer:

24 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

as my friend is 20% less efficient than me,

therefore, 20% of20 =20/100*20

= 4.

therefore, no.of days friend took to complete the project= (20+4)days

=24 days (ans).
