a zoo or a botanical garden is not a suitable place for many species to survive. which are these species? say why it is difficult for them to survive
Answers
Answer:
Explanation:
In reference to several types of flora and fauna, many species cannot exists in zoo's and botanical gardens. This is because such animals are the ones whose habitat is that of the wildlife and their natural setting is the only one in which they can exist. They are the ones which cannot be kept in captivity.
A very simple example: A cat is a domestic animal but a lion isn't. Using this analogy the above mentioned question may be answered.
Some animals or species of animal as well as plants which cannot survive in captivity, is mentioned as follows:-
- The great white shark. It is used to travelling thousands of miles as a routine. Also there isn't much research done on this species, so this cannot be kept in captivity. It would require a great amount of money to either built a habitat for this animals liking and or to conduct research on it.
- Cetaceans are not suitable for captivity as this species terminates all social ties to family groups. This creature would experience great levels of stress, mental debilitation and aberrational behavior if kept for long periods, thus making it not suitable.
-Large migration distances cannot be kept in captivity such as the Baleen whales
, Great white sharks
, Greenland shark
, Tooth whales , Giant squid,etc.
-Animals from around hydrothermal vents.
-'Hydrostachys polymorpha', this is a plant which is a perennial herb that cannot survive without the turbulence of water. Thus creating such natural turbulence for this plant is not possible or at least costly.
- A Parasitic plant 'Pilostyles thurberi' grows rarely and there isn't much research done on it, so it cant be kept in botanical gardens.
