a² + b² = 17 , ab = 4

a² + b² = (a + b)² - 2ab

17 = (a + b)² - 2×4

(a + b)² = 17 + 8

(a + b)²= 25

a + b = root25

a + b = 5

Answer:

A+B=17/2; IF A=1/2 AND B=8

Step-by-step explanation:

A2 OR 2A; ›A+A. AB =4

B2 OR 2B ;› B+B. A=4/B

2A+2B=17. A=4/8

A+A+B+B=17. A=1/2

4/B+4/B+B+B=17

2B²–17B+8=0

B=1/2 OR B=8

A+B

1/2+8=17/2
