I think the 1st one means that no one can identify them properly
I think the 2nd one means that because of the nurse's whim they were mixed together and then were both Christened each other's name
3) So here the narrator is asking everyone he knew that what will they do if they are said to be narrator and what will they do to prove that they are themselves, the narrator was annoyed for the people's mistake to think narrator is his brother so he said those words
4) So this close resemblance between narrator and his brother changed narrator's situation of his domestic life
