Answer:

The distribution of population across India is not even. The rural areas all over are much more densely populated as compared to urban areas. Maharashtra is the most heavily populated state with 560 million people living in rural areas and 410 in urban, closely followed by Andhra Pradesh with 550 million and 210 million in rural and urban areas respectively. Though Madhya Pradesh has 440 million people in rural areas, there are only 160 million in urban areas, as compared to Karnataka with 350 million and 180 million in rural and urban areas respectively. With 190 million. Gujrat has comparitively more people in the urban areas as compared to some other States and 320 million in the rural areas. Chhattisgarh, a small state, has 170 million people residing in rural areas ,while only 40 million are city dwellers.
