Abdul Kalam
Abdul kalam was born on 15 oct. 1931 into a Muslim Family in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. After com-
pleting his studies at Schwartz Higher Secondary School, he enrolled at Saint Joseph's College,
Tiruchirappalli, graduating in science in 1954. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam earned his degree from Madras Insti-
tute of Tech. in 1957 and joined the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Defence Research
and Development Organisation(DRDO) as a scientist in 1958.In early 1960s, he worked with the
Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) under the renowed space scientist Vikram
Sarabhai.He also designed a small hovercraft at DRDO.He visited NASA's Langley Reserach Center, he
began working on an expandable rocket project independentely at DRDO in 1965, Kalam was the proud
recipient of honourary doctorates from 40 universities Kalam's 79th birthday was recognised as World
Students' Day by United Nations. 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Renowed for pivotal role in
the Nation's, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, 11th President Of India, is also popularly known as the Missile Man
and well known writer.
