You were so young that you could not be alone in a big city.

  • too is an adverb, which describes the extreme extent of action.
  • it is an adverb of degree since it depicts the extent
  • so....that is also an adverb that has been used in place of too
  • it kind of implies a condition and depicts the degree at the same time
