Answer:
My father was a yakshagana actor and was very fond of his profession. In his younger ages he was honoured even by Dr Rajendra Prasad. Due to his month long illness every member of the house was sleepless and at last on 31st January 1979 my father breathed his last.
Next day, due to month long fatigue, every one was felt asleep except we two sisters. It might be at about 2 in the night. My second elder sister was telling me how our father fell ill, how they took him to hospital, the problems they faced there etc…..(as I was with my eldest sister for the previous three months)…..suddenly there we heard the sound of bells …sound of bells that our father used on his legs during his acting time…no….that was not imagination…...We both began to perspire and stopped talking but took our hands each other tightly. The sound which started near the steps to the drawing room continued for five-six steps and ended near the “sacred light" that was kept in the room where his dead body was kept on the previous day.
We both felt our breathing stopped for a moment. We could not understand whether to believe it or not; but it happened with us..though I don't believe in any of superstitions, that incident of shrill breaking night's silence made me think about it and make me shiver to core even today.
