Aa body moves distance x from a point A to a point B and returns back to A by same path . what will be the distance and the displacement covered by the body .

Well first of all distance is magnitude or the sum of all the points covered by the body in a particular path 
while displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final point
here in the above case the initail and final point is same i.e. A 
and its given that the body covers x distance from A to B and again traces the same path to come to the initial point
so here it covers x distance from A to B and again x Distance from B to A 
so total distance is 2x
while the displacement is zero because since the initial and final point of the body is same so the shortest distance is nothing but zero 
we can define displacement as = final point - initial point since here both are same so the displacement is 0
