Aadi Pirappu in Tamil means, birth or beginning of the Aadi month - falling between mid-July to mid-August. It is a monsoon festival, celebrated mainly in Tamil Nadu, on the 18th day of the Tamil month of Aadi. It is also known as Aadi Perukku.
