Given :

Voltage of battery V = 12 v

Current I = 150 A

(per hour)

Power of battery P = 40 watt.

To find :

Time of discharge of battery.

Solution :

It is given that Voltage given by battery is 12 v

and Current through the circuit will be 150 ampere in 1 hour.

It means in presence of 12 v of potential difference by the battery,

The circuit will consume 150 ampere of current per hour.

Power is the measure to quantify the work done in a circuit per hourhour or also we can say that,

Power is the rate by which energy is transferred.

so,

Energy = Power multiplied by time of use lf battery

so

power \:  =  \frac{energy}{time}

we know that

Energy in an electric circuit is :

E = V \times I \times t

where

V = voltage,

I = Current

t = Time.

so

Power in a circuit is P :

P =  \frac{V \times I \times t}{t}  = VI \:

So,

In one hour this given circuit will need power :

P \:  = 12 \times 150 = 1800 \: watt

So

It means this circuit needs 1800 watts to work for 1 hour, but we have only 20 watts

so

Time of working of circuit :

 \frac{20}{1800} hour =  \frac{20}{1800}  \times 3600 \: seconds \:  = 40secons

So time of working = 40 seconds.
