Answer:

i) 1/10

ii) 1/4

iii) 1/8

Step-by-step explanation:

Arushi paid 1/2 and Bani paid 1/5 of the bill

i) Remaining fraction of the bill = 1 - \dfrac12 - \dfrac15 = 1- \dfrac{7}{10} = \dfrac{3}{10}

Now this was shared equally among the three people.

So, the fraction of the bill paid by Chaitanya, Tanya and Sanvi is \dfrac13 \times \dfrac{3}{10} = \dfrac{1}{10}

ii) The bill was divided among four people equally. So each person has to pay 1/4 of the bill.

iii) 1/2 of the bill was waived off. Remaining part = 1 -1/2 = 1/2

This was equally divided among four people.

Fraction paid by each = \dfrac14 \times \dfrac12 = \dfrac18
