Question:-

Aayush Shri sat for 6th and Ananya 7th test their percentage scores were..

\begin{array}{|c|c|c|c|c|c|c|c|}\cline{1-8}Aayush\: Shri & 68 & 75 & 70 & 45 & 57 & 77 & \\ \cline{1-8} Ananya & 52 & 87 & 64 & 53 & 74 & 81 & 86 \\ \cline{1-8}\end{array}

Who has the higher mean score?

Solution:-

Mean is defined as the sum of all observations divide by total number of observations.

Here,

Sum of observations = Sum of Aaayush Shri's number

And total number of observations = 6

Let's denote the Aaysh Shri's number by x.

\implies\:\sf{x\:=\:\dfrac{\Sigma f_i x_i}{\Sigma f_i}}

\Rightarrow\:\sf{x\:=\:\frac{68+75+70+45+57+77}{6}}

\Rightarrow\:\sf{x\:=\:\frac{392}{6}}

\Rightarrow\:\sf{x\:=\:65.33}

Similarly,

Let's denote the Ananya's number by y.

Now,

Sum of observations = Sum of Ananya's number

And total number of observations = 7

\implies\:\sf{y\:=\:\dfrac{\Sigma f_i y_i}{\Sigma f_i}}

\Rightarrow\:\sf{y\:=\:\frac{52+87+64+53+74+81+86}{7}}

\Rightarrow\:\sf{y\:=\:\frac{497}{7}}

\Rightarrow\:\sf{y\:=\:71}

Now compare the percentage score of of Aayush Shri and Ananya.

On comparing, we found that;

Ananya score's 5.67 more than Aayash Shri.

Therefore,

Ananya has the higher mean score.
