AB is a chord of circle with center O. If OP perpendicularAB and extended OP meets the circle at C and AB=6cm,PC=2cm,then find the length of the radius.

OA is the radius of the circle

Perpendicular drawn from centre to a chord bisects the chord.

Therefore AM=21AB

AM=10cm

Thus, triangle OMA is right angled triangled at ∠OMA. 

∠OMA=90∘.

By Pythagoras theorem,

OA2=OM2+MA2

 OA=OM2+MA2

 OA=(211)2+102

OA=144cm

OA=12cm

Radius of a circle  is 12cm.
