AB is a diameter of a circle . P is a pt on the semi circle APB . AH and BK r perpendicular from A and B respectively to the tangent at present prove that AH + BK = AB

Draw perpendicular from centre O to point P . it is also the radius of the circle .

now,AH = PO and BK = PO

therefore 2PO = AH + BK

but 2PO = AB ( 2 radius = diameter)

so AB = AH + BK
