Abattery of e..f 6V and internal resistance 2 ohm is connected in parallel with another battery of e.m.f. 5V and internal resistance 2 ohm. The combination is used to send current through an external resistance of 8 ohm. Calculate the current through the external resistance.

'Total current from the combination=current flowing 2Ω=I

∴I  \frac{V1 - V2} {R1 - R2}  =   \frac{4 - 1}{1  + 0} A \\  = 3A

Potential difference across 2Ω=(3×2)v

 = 6V
