ABC~DEF

So, ar(ABC)/ar(DEF)=AB^2/DE^2

(by the theorem of area of

similar triangles is equally

propotional to the square

of two corresponding

side)

1/2 = (4)^2/DE^2

1/2 = 16 / DE^2

by cross multiplication

32 = DE^2
