Q: A, B and C have to type a document of 464 pages. A can type 1 page in 16 minutes B in 28 minutes C in 32 minutes. If they divide the document into three parts so that all three of them spent equal amount of time and finishing the task. What is the number of pages that B should type?

Solutions :-

Given :
A, B and C have to type a document of 464 pages.

A can type 1 page in 16 minutes.

B can type 1 page in 28 minutes.

C can type 1 page in 32 minutes.

(A + B + C)'s 1 minute work = 1/16 + 1/28 + 1/32
= (14 + 8 + 7)/224
= 29/224

29/224 work take time = 1 minute
∴ 1 work takes time = 224/29 minutes
∴ 464 work take time = (224 × 464)/29 = 3584 minutes

B's 1 minute work = 1/28
B's 3584 minutes work = 3584/28 = 128

Hence,
B can type 128 pages

Answer:

128 pages

Step By Step Explanation:

Given that;

A, B and C have to type a document of 464 pages.

A, B & C can type 1 page in 16, 28 & 32 minutes respectively.

Now,
1 minute work of (A + B + C) :

⇒ 1/16 + 1/28 + 1/32
⇒ (14 + 8 + 7)/224
⇒ 29/224

So, 29/224 work takes time 1 minute.

∴ 1 work takes time = 224/29 minutes

∴ 464 work take time :
⇒ (224 × 464)/29
⇒ 3584 minutes

1 minute work of B = 1/28
3584 minutes work of B = 3584/28 = 128

Hence, The required number of pages that B should type is 128 pages.
