ABC is a right triangle, right angled at B. The hypotenuse AC is 25 cm and AB : BC =4 : 3. Find the lengths of the sides AB and BC.

Answer:

let AB & BC be 4x and 3x respectively,

we have got the length of AC = 25cm

therefore,

In ∆ABC angle B = 90° ,

By Pythagoras theroum,

AC² = AB² + BC²

=> ( 25 )² = ( 4x )² + ( 3x )²

=> 625 = 16x² + 9x² = 25x²

=> x² = 625 = 25

=> x = √25 = 5cm

therefore ,

AB = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20cm

BC = 3x = 3 × 5 = 15cm.
