Answer:

Given: D is a point on AB and E is a point on AC

= AD = 1/4 of AB

= AE = 1/4 of AC

Additional Construction: -> 'x' is the midpoint of AB such that D is the mid point of AX

-> AD = 1/2 x BC and AE = 1/4 BC

∴ Similarly, Y is the midpoint of AC such that E is the midpoint of AY

∴ By Midpoint theorem,

= xy= 1/2 BC

= DE = (1/2) multiplied by y

= DE = 2cm

= 2 = 1/2 x (y)

= xy = 2 x 2

= xy = 4 x 4

= 4 = 1/2 x BC

= BC = 2 x 4

= BC = 8cm
