ABC is an equilateral triangle with co-ordinates of B and C as (1,0) and (5,0) respectively . Find the co-ordinates of A .

Given coordinates of B and C are (3, 0) and (-3, 0)

 and CD = DB = 3 units

Hence D coincides with the origin.

Since ABC is an equilateral triangle, AB = BC = CA = 6 units

In right triangle ADB,  [By Pythagoras theorem]

Hence the coordinates of A are .............
