ABC is an isosceles triangle is which AB=AC=10cm and BC=12. PQRS is a rectangle inside the isosceles triangle. Given PQ=SR=y cm, PS=QR=2x. Prove that x = 6 -(3/4)y.

ab = ac = 10

and

bc = 12


Also in rectangle

pq = rs = y

and qr = sp = x

Thus

in triangle abd

ad^2 = 10^2 + 6^2

         = 100 + 36

ad = root 136

      = 2 root 34
