∆abc is right angle at c . If ac=5cm and bc=12cm. Find the length of ab?

By Pythagoras theorem

(ab) {}^{2}  =  {ac}^{2}  +  {cb}^{2}

 {ab}^{2}  =  {5}^{2}  +  {12}^{2}  \\ ab {}^{2}   = 25 + 144 \\ ab =  \sqrt{169}  \\ ab = 13

So, the length of ab is 13cm.

Given :-

AC = 5cm And BC = 12cm.

To find :-

The length of AB.

 \huge \underline \bold{AnsWer}

13cm.

Solution;

By Pythagoras property,

⠀ ⠀ AB² = AC² = BC²

⠀ = 5² + 12² = 25 + 144 = 169 = 13² .

⠀ ⠀ AB² = 13

So,AB = 13.

Therefore,The length of AB is 13cm.

Note : To identify perfect squares,you may use prime factorisation technique.
