Given : Abcd is a parallelogram.

area of abl is 15 cm²

area of dcl is 32 cm²

To Find : area of the parallelogram abcd

Solution:

area of abl is 15 cm²

Perpendicular distance of l from ab = x  cm

=> (1/2) ab *  x  = 15

=> x = 30/ab  cm

area of dcl is 32 cm²

Perpendicular distance of l from cd = y

=> (1/2) cd *  y  = 32

=> y = 64/cd  cm

as ab || cd  ( opposite sides of parallelogram)

x + y = h  ( distance between ab and cd )

ab = cd

h = 30/ab + 64/cd

=> h = 30/ab + 64/ab

=> h = 94/ab  cm

Area of parallelogram abcd =  ab * h

= ab * 94/ab

= 94   cm²
